Fixed all my New Holland no-want-to-start-bale problems. Had a 648 that wouldn't start a bale in dry conditions to save its life. Only thing that really helped was jump out an make a narrow windrow for 20' or so. Take the doubled up 4' windrows and make them 2' wide by hand then feed that into the middle of baler.Location. The frame can be repaired. It also wore into the scraper and the scraper mount channel. This is also repaired.As for sledge gear wear, the BR balers do not have the wear on the gears like the 0, 4, and 8 series balers had. On those earlier balers the wear concentrated on the lowest of the three gears and the first idler above it. The BR balers do not have these two items and only use two gears and one idler. But but there have been times when that tractor was broke down, so I had to use our old Allis Chalmers 180 on the baler. It's rated at 64 HP, and the New Holland book says the minimum HP needed is 65.
