I was planning to install the promaxx 9175 180cc heads on a DSS 331 and its just a street car, so am wondering if these heads would fit the bill. Im noticing these have better flow numbers than the Tw170 but not sure of ... Our research indicates the 1973 340 engines used a large, 73cc chamber to reduce the compression ratio to 8.5:1. While this reduced NOx output for emissions, this loss of compression really hurts power. The rule of thumb with compression is that, in the range between 8.0:1 and 12.0:1 compression, one full ratio is worth approximately 3 to 4 ...I have made the decision that I am going to go with Promaxx Project X 185 heads. I am impressed with the flow numbers. Does anyone out there have any experience with these heads. From what I have read they use to be the Patriot heads, but now are called Promaxx. Also the head gasket they recommend is the felpro 1003.AFR 165 - Available but low stock, seems to be the closest to restocking soon. Trickflow 170, - Not available, back order til April/May. Promaxx 180 - build to order, should be sent out in a few weeks. GT40 heads - definitely available, but not sure its worth the hassle/gain over the other options.

I just built a 355 with ProMaxx Maxx 183 heads. Engine runs great and not looking for new heads, but I was looking at the AFR 195 Enforcer heads. I had never seen them before. I got to looking at the advertised flow numbers for the AFR's.
